TFP Bureau, RAIPUR; July 13, 2024: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated a series of ambitious infrastructure projects in Mumbai, Maharashtra, totaling over Rs 29,400 crores. These initiatives, aimed at bolstering connectivity and fostering economic growth, were unveiled during a landmark event attended by state and national dignitaries.
In a significant move to ease urban congestion, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Thane Borivali Twin Tunnel Project, a Rs 16,600 crore endeavor set to reduce travel between Thane and Borivali by 12 km. Simultaneously, he launched the Rs 6,300 crore Goregaon Mulund Link Road Project, enhancing road connectivity across Mumbai and facilitating access to key transportation hubs.
Highlighting the importance of modernizing rail infrastructure, the Prime Minister initiated the Kalyan Yard Remodelling project, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency by segregating long-distance and suburban traffic. He also inaugurated the Gati Shakti MultiModal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, a pivotal hub for handling commodities and generating employment opportunities.
PM Modi further emphasized the role of skill development in driving economic growth, launching the Rs 5,600 crore Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana. This initiative aims to provide vocational training and industry exposure to youth, thereby boosting employment prospects across Maharashtra.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi underscored Maharashtra’s pivotal role in India’s economic landscape, envisioning Mumbai as a global financial and fintech hub. The event, attended by dignitaries including Maharashtra Governor Shri Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, marked a significant step towards realizing the state’s growth potential.
The projects unveiled today reaffirm the government’s commitment to inclusive development and economic empowerment, aiming to propel Maharashtra towards a prosperous future.
