Pushpa Yadav’s Dream Takes Flight: From Household Chores to Drone Piloting

Once limited to household chores, Pushpa now sprays fields with drones, fulfilling her dream of becoming ‘Lakhpati Didi’

TFP Special Story; July 14, 2024: In a testament to determination and confidence, rural women like Pushpa Yadav are seeing their dreams of becoming ‘Lakhpati Didi’ come true. Hailing from Gullu village in Arang, Pushpa once struggled to drive a scooty and was confined to household chores. Today, she operates drones to spray pesticides over village fields.

“Flying a drone was a big opportunity for me. I never thought I could do such a job, but after training, I am now a skilled drone pilot,” said Pushpa. She completed a 20-day drone pilot training course in April and has since been spraying pesticides, earning Rs 300 per acre. In just one and a half months, she has made Rs 26,000.

Pushpa is a member of the NRLM Bihaan scheme and is also engaged in farming. With the successful drone pilot training provided by Bihaan Yojana and IFFCO, she now serves as a service provider to rural farmers. Combining her farming, animal husbandry, NREGA mate work, and drone piloting, Pushpa expects to earn over Rs 1.5 lakhs annually.

This initiative, according to Pushpa, is transformative for rural women, enabling many like her to become financially independent. She expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for their support. Pushpa’s journey exemplifies how effective government schemes can empower women and help them achieve their aspirations.
