TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 15, 2024: Educationist Dr. Hemlata S Mohan emphasized today that India’s new education policy aims to position the country as a global powerhouse in knowledge while maintaining strong ties to Indian culture and values. Speaking as the keynote speaker at a one-day orientation program held at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Raipur, Dr. Mohan praised Chhattisgarh for leading the nation in implementing the National Education Policy.
The orientation program, attended by officials and academic members of the School Education Department, focused on developing a comprehensive understanding of the National Education Policy 2020. Secretary of the School Education Department, Mr. Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, highlighted the importance of the upcoming year’s work, noting that 30 percent of the policy implementation has been completed in the last six months, with the remaining 70 percent underway. Local adaptation of textbooks and teacher training aligned with the policy were stressed as crucial for effective implementation.
“Innovation in training and outreach efforts to re-enroll school dropouts are integral to our strategy,” Mr. Pardeshi added.
The program commenced with traditional auspices, including the garlanding of the Maa Saraswati statue and lighting of the lamp. Mr. J.P. Rath, Additional Director at SCERT, welcomed the guests and introduced them during the inaugural session.
Guest speaker Mr. Mahendra Mishra delivered a detailed presentation on multilingualism and the power of language, urging educators to prioritize equitable education for all children across India. SCERT Director Shri Rajendra Kumar Katara presented SCERT-published books and underscored the program’s significance as the first official orientation on the National Education Policy.
“Today marks a milestone as we delve into the core aspects of the policy,” Mr. Katara remarked.
The event included presentations by SCERT academic members covering key policy points. Topics ranged from curriculum development and pedagogy to early childhood education, literacy, numeracy, student assessment, teacher professional development, vocational education, and the integration of technology in digital learning. The State Literacy Mission, represented by Shri Prashant Pandey, introduced the Ullas Navbharat Literacy Programme.
Concluding the program, Mr. Katara administered the oath for the Ullas initiative, underscoring the state’s commitment to enhancing literacy.
The workshop saw attendance from Managing Director of the Textbook Corporation, Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, along with officers, academic members of SCERT, and principals from all Government Education Colleges, BTIs, and DIETs, collectively marking a pivotal moment in advancing education reforms in Chhattisgarh.
