Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana: A Boon for Financially Weaker Families

45 couples tie the knot in Raigarh under this scheme

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 17, 2024: On Tuesday, a total of 45 couples were married under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana in Raigarh district. This scheme aims to alleviate the financial burdens of poor families, prevent wasteful wedding expenditures, and enhance social status by organizing mass marriages. Each couple received Rs 35,000 from the government, transferred to the bride’s bank account. Additionally, the newlyweds were gifted bags, makeup items, clothes, and other essentials, along with marriage certificates.

Beneficiaries like Smt. Devanti Sidar from Gopalpur, Boirdadar, and Smt. Bharti from Bhagwanpur shared their experiences. Both were married on July 16 under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, registered through an Anganwadi worker. They expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, highlighting how the scheme eased their families’ financial burdens, allowing them to have the weddings they desired.

The Chhattisgarh government runs several schemes for women, including Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Mahtari Jatan Yojana. Among these, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana stands out for assisting financially weak families with their daughters’ marriages. This scheme significantly reduces parents’ financial worries, making it possible for families with limited resources to marry off their daughters. The dream of a grand wedding often seems out of reach for many due to financial constraints, but the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana has proven to be a blessing, lifting the financial load off thousands of families and turning their wedding dreams into reality.
