70 Lakh Ration Card Holders Apply Online for Renewal

Renewal Work Extended Until August 15; Bijapur Leads in Renewals

TFP Bureau, Raipur;  July 25, 2024:  The renewal of ration cards under the Public Distribution System in Chhattisgarh has been extended until August 15, 2024. This extension follows instructions from the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department, which mandates the renewal and e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) of ration card holders across all categories, including Antyodaya, Priority, Single Destitute, Disabled, and APL scheme holders.

According to the Food Department, e-KYC is essential for ration card renewal. Chhattisgarh has about 77 lakh ration card beneficiaries, with 70.26 lakh already renewed. Bijapur district leads in renewals, with 71,109 out of 71,329 beneficiaries having completed the process. Narayanpur is second, with 35,790 out of 36,136 beneficiaries, followed by Sukma, where nearly all 78,703 beneficiaries have renewed their ration cards.

To facilitate the renewal process, a new mobile app developed by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department is available for download from the Play Store. The app, along with the Food Department’s website (http://khadya.cg.nic.in), enables beneficiaries to complete renewals. Alternatively, beneficiaries can visit fair price shops to complete their renewal and e-KYC online.

For e-KYC, biometric updates are mandatory. Beneficiaries with Baal Aadhaar must update their biometrics at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before completing e-KYC via the fair price shop’s e-POS machine. The process of e-KYC and ration card renewal is free of charge.
