Dr. Mandavia Praises Young Javelin Thrower, Announces New Sports Facilities

TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 28, 2024: Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia lauded Chhattisgarh’s rising sports talents during his visit to the state. At the Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Raipur, Dr. Mandavia highlighted the impressive performance of 16-year-old Vijay Yadav from Surguja, who showcased his javelin throwing skills with a throw of 68 meters. Dr. Mandavia urged Yadav to draw inspiration from Olympian Neeraj Chopra and praised his outstanding achievement at such a young age.

Dr. Mandavia also recognized female footballer Kiran Pisda for her contributions to international sports. Pisda, who has represented Croatia’s WFC Dinamo Zagreb, was commended for her dedication and performance, emphasizing the potential of India’s female athletes on the global stage.

The Union Minister’s visit included meetings with athletes in weightlifting, archery, and football. He encouraged them and expressed support for their future endeavors. Among the attendees were Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Sports Minister Shri Tankaram Verma, and several other dignitaries.

Approval of New Sports Centers and Infrastructure Expansion

Dr. Mandavia announced plans to establish two new Games India Centers in Chhattisgarh, which will enhance sports facilities and training opportunities across the state. Currently, 31 districts have Games India Centers, and the expansion will further support the training of 1,181 players in various sports disciplines.

The Minister emphasized the need for improved sports infrastructure and urged the utilization of CSR funds to support sports development. He also addressed the Labor Department, stressing the importance of maximizing benefits from central and state schemes and ensuring adequate medical and employment services for workers.

Enhancements to ESIC Hospitals and New Dispensaries

Dr. Mandavia reviewed the current status of ESIC hospitals in Chhattisgarh and acknowledged the need for improved medical staffing. He approved the addition of ESIC dispensaries in Lara and Kharsia, responding to requests from the Labor Department. The Minister directed ESIC officials to address deficiencies in hospital services and expressed dissatisfaction with EPFO registration processes, calling for prompt updates and improvements.

The visit highlighted Dr. Mandavia’s commitment to enhancing both sports and labor welfare infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, paving the way for more robust development in these sectors.
