TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 28, 2024: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, visited Surguja district today, accompanied by Chhattisgarh’s Women and Child Development Minister, Shri Laxmi Rajwade. During her visit, Smt. Thakur inspected several Anganwadi centers and the Sakhi One Stop Center, emphasizing the importance of safety and support for women.
Smt. Thakur’s first stop was the Sakhi One Stop Center in Darripara, where she reviewed the facilities and instructed officials to prioritize women’s safety. She urged efforts to reunite women separated from their families, noting that 315 families have been saved from breaking up through counseling provided at the center.
Smt. Thakur also inspected Anganwadi centers in the district, organizing a nutrition chaupal to raise awareness about nutrition among women, Anganwadi workers, and assistants. She visited centers in Indira Nagar, Navapara, and Bengalipara, participating in the Godhbharai ritual by offering gifts and blessings to pregnant women. She also performed Anna-Prashna, feeding kheer to the children.
During her visit to the Navapara Anganwadi Center, Smt. Thakur met with women from self-help groups involved in livelihood activities, discussing ways to increase their income. She encouraged tree planting under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, urging everyone to take responsibility for protecting the trees.
Chhattisgarh’s Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Rajwade, also participated in the tree plantation campaign. At the Bengalipara Anganwadi Center, she informed women about government schemes, motivating them to utilize these opportunities. She appealed to mothers to send their children to Anganwadi centers regularly and ensured that the centers maintain cleanliness and open on time.
Smt. Thakur stressed the collective responsibility for the better development of children, urging active participation from the community to support government and administrative efforts.
Following these activities, Smt. Thakur attended the Mann Ki Baat Shravan program by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PG College Auditorium in Ambikapur. The event was attended by MLA Ambikapur Mr. Rajesh Agarwal, Lundra MLA Mr. Prabodh Minj, Collector Mr. Vilas Bhoskar, local public representatives, eminent citizens, and senior officials from various departments.
