President of India Announces New Governor Appointments

Major reshuffle includes appointments across multiple states and Union Territories

TFP Bureau, New Delhi; July 28, 2024: The President of India has accepted the resignation of Shri Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. This move is part of a broader reshuffle, with new appointments announced for several states and Union Territories.

New Appointments:

1. Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as Governor of Rajasthan.
2. Shri Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as Governor of Telangana.
3. Shri Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as Governor of Sikkim.
4. Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as Governor of Jharkhand.
5. Shri Ramen Deka has been appointed as Governor of Chhattisgarh.
6. Shri C H Vijayashankar has been appointed as Governor of Meghalaya.
7. Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, currently Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as Governor of Maharashtra.
8. Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, currently Governor of Assam, has been appointed as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
9. Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, currently Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge as Governor of Manipur.

Additionally, Shri K. Kailashnathan has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, effective from the date he assumes charge of his office.

These appointments will take effect from the dates the respective appointees assume charge of their new offices.
