Historic Flower Shower from Helicopter Marks ‘Saavan’ Celebration

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 5, 2024: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made history on the occasion of ‘Saavan’ by giving a grand welcome to thousands of Kanwariyas at the ancient Baba Bhoramdeo Temple. In a remarkable display of devotion, the Chief Minister showered flower petals from a helicopter onto the gathered devotees, accompanied by chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bam.” Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma joined in the festivities, celebrating alongside Chief Minister Sai.

This event marks the first time a Chhattisgarh Chief Minister has welcomed Shiva devotees in such a unique manner. Chief Minister Sai also performed traditional rituals and ‘Rudrabhishek’ at the temple, praying for the state’s prosperity and happiness.

During the celebration, Chief Minister Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Sharma interacted with the devotees, personally serving them Kheer, Puri, rice, and Prasad as part of the ‘Bhandara.’ The occasion was attended by prominent local figures including Pandariya MLA Bhawna Bohra, District Panchayat President Sushila Ram Kumar Bhatt, Janpad President Indrani Chandravanshi, former MLA Ashok Sahu, and Nagar Panchayat President Manharan Kaushik.

Historic Saavan Somvaar for Shiva Devotees

Chief Minister Sai expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings on this special day, emphasizing the significance of the ‘Saavan Somvaar’ celebration. He prayed for peace and prosperity for all residents of Chhattisgarh, marking this as a memorable occasion for Shiva devotees during the holy month of Saavan.

The Baba Bhoramdeo Temple, a site of ancient and archaeological significance dating back to the 11th century, hosts the annual Kanwar Yatra, during which devotees bring holy water from the Narmada River to perform ‘Jalabhishek’ at various Shiva temples in Chhattisgarh. This year’s Yatra was particularly notable for the government’s unprecedented efforts to support and honor the Kanwariyas.
