Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap Engages with Union Ministers on Welfare and Environmental Issues

Focus on Tribal Welfare, Water Resources, and Environmental Conservation

TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 7, 2024: Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap conducted a series of high-level courtesy visits to key Union Ministers during his trip to New Delhi, emphasizing the state’s ongoing welfare and environmental initiatives.

Minister Kashyap first met with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Shri Jual Oram, where he detailed the various welfare schemes implemented under Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership. Kashyap highlighted the efforts of the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading & Development) Co-operative Federation Limited, which has been purchasing minor forest produce from approximately 6.5 lakh tribal families since 2014-15. He reported a loss of Rs 52.18 crore in this trade and requested reimbursement of Rs 39.14 crore and an additional Rs 200 crore in working capital to sustain the program.

In a subsequent meeting, Kashyap engaged with Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri CR Patil to discuss state-level public welfare schemes related to water resources. He updated the minister on various initiatives undertaken under Chief Minister Sai’s leadership, aiming to bolster water management and public welfare in Chhattisgarh.

Kashyap also met Union Forest and Environment Minister Shri Bhupendra Yadav, where they discussed forest conservation, environmental improvement, and wildlife protection in Chhattisgarh. Kashyap presented the state’s progress in forest management, including its tree plantation campaign and efforts to combat climate change. Minister Yadav commended Chhattisgarh’s policies and assured central support for forest management and environmental protection. The discussions aimed at fostering joint efforts to expand forest areas and ensure environmental balance.

These meetings underscore Chhattisgarh’s commitment to advancing tribal welfare, enhancing water resources, and improving environmental conservation through collaborative efforts with central ministries.
