TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 9, 2024: In a bid to boost tourism, the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is undertaking significant upgrades at two key tourist sites in Surajpur district: Pahadgaon and Kumeli Waterfall.
Pahadgaon, located near Ambikapur Road and Silfili in the Surajpur Janpad, is home to a serene lake created by the Khokhania Dam, nestled amid picturesque mountains. To transform this scenic spot into a prime tourist destination, the administration is improving access roads and providing essential amenities. Development plans include enhancing safety measures, installing food and drinking water facilities, constructing toilet blocks, building pagoda huts, and implementing waste management systems. Additionally, boating facilities are set to be introduced on the lake to attract more visitors.
Simultaneously, the district administration is focusing on the development of the Kumeli Waterfall area, a popular tourist site located approximately 30 kilometers from Surajpur, accessible via Ketka Road and Rajapur Road. The 50-foot waterfall, surrounded by dense forest, is particularly captivating during the rainy season. Planned upgrades include waste management, security enhancements with warning boards, the installation of drinking water facilities, and the repair of solar lights and toilets. The construction of pagoda huts will also provide tourists with comfortable resting spots.
These developments reflect the government’s commitment to bolstering the tourism sector and improving the infrastructure at these natural sites, ensuring a better experience for visitors while promoting the region as a key tourist destination.
