Chhattisgarh’s ITIs Set for Major Upgrade under Chief Minister’s Initiative

State Allocates Rs 484.22 Crore to Transform 160 Institutes into Model ITIs

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 10, 2024: In a significant move to boost employment opportunities for the youth of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has spearheaded a major initiative to upgrade 160 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into model ITIs. The Department of Employment and Training has approved a substantial budget of Rs 484.22 crore for this transformative project, which will align training programs with the needs of local industries.

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma hailed this development as a milestone for the state’s youth, emphasizing the project’s potential to enhance skill development and employability. “Following the Chief Minister’s directive, we have prepared a comprehensive plan to upgrade ITIs across the state to model ITIs. In the first phase, a three-year proposal worth Rs 484.22 crore has been approved for 160 ITIs,” he stated.

Among the institutes set for an upgrade, the ITI at Sakri in Baloda Bazar will soon undergo a significant transformation. The government has sanctioned Rs 20.13 crore for this particular ITI under the SIDBI scheme. The upgrade will focus on modernizing various trades, with Rs 3.23 crore allocated for new machine tools and equipment, including Rs 1.05 crore for computer hardware and network maintenance, Rs 75 lakh for electrician training, Rs 46 lakh for fitter training, Rs 44 lakh for mechanic diesel, and Rs 53 lakh for welder training.

Infrastructure improvements at the Sakri ITI will also be a priority, with Rs 3.44 crore earmarked for constructing a new building. Additional allocations include Rs 7.42 lakh for a guard room, Rs 1.25 crore for parking facilities, Rs 11.78 crore for staff quarters, and Rs 34.80 lakh for the entrance gate and boundary wall.

This ambitious upgradation project is expected to significantly enhance the quality of vocational training in Chhattisgarh, better preparing the state’s youth for the demands of the modern workforce.
