Chhattisgarh Records 753.4 mm Average Rainfall So Far This Monsoon

Bijapur Receives Highest, Surguja Records Lowest Rainfall in the State

TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 11, 2024: Chhattisgarh has recorded an average rainfall of 753.4 mm since the onset of the monsoon on June 1, 2024, according to the State Level Control Room set up by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The data reveals significant variations in rainfall across the state’s districts, with Bijapur experiencing the highest average rainfall at 1698.3 mm, while Surguja recorded the lowest at 373.0 mm.

As of this morning, Surajpur district received an average of 678.0 mm of rainfall, Balrampur recorded 998.0 mm, and Jashpur 573.5 mm. Korea and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur districts reported 711.3 mm and 738.2 mm, respectively.

In central Chhattisgarh, Raipur district saw an average of 658.3 mm, while Baloda Bazar recorded 790.6 mm. Gariaband received 732.5 mm, Mahasamund 545.2 mm, and Dhamtari 705.3 mm. Meanwhile, Bilaspur and Mungeli reported 691.0 mm and 717.4 mm, respectively. Raigarh district recorded 633.2 mm, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh saw the lowest in the region with 415.2 mm. Janjgir-Champa received 713.2 mm, and Korba recorded a substantial 959.7 mm.

In the northern part of the state, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi reported 691.1 mm, while Durg district saw 484.0 mm. Kabirdham recorded 594.0 mm, and Rajnandgaon saw 797.8 mm. Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadhchowki registered 915.5 mm, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai 558.1 mm, and Balod 835.2 mm. Bemetara recorded 433.7 mm.

The southern districts of Chhattisgarh saw significant rainfall, with Bastar receiving 838.1 mm, Kondagaon 785.5 mm, and Kanker 1005.1 mm. Narayanpur recorded 914.2 mm, Dantewada 996.7 mm, and Sukma district saw a substantial 1073.3 mm of rainfall.

This data highlights the diverse weather patterns across Chhattisgarh, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall, while others received much less, impacting local agriculture and water resources.
