TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 23, 2024: The Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee of Chhattisgarh has announced a revised fee structure for MBBS and postgraduate (PG) medical courses in the state’s private medical colleges. This decision comes in response to concerns over excessive fee collection by these institutions. The new fees will be applicable for the academic years from 2024 to 2027.

According to the committee, the highest annual fee for MBBS courses has been set at ₹8.02 lakh at Shri Balaji Institute of Medical Sciences, Mowa. Meanwhile, Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Nava Raipur, and Abhishek I Mishra Memorial College and Research, Junwani Bhilai, will charge ₹7.45 lakh per year for their MBBS programs.

For postgraduate clinical seats, the Raipur Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Godhi will charge ₹9.84 lakh annually, while fees for pre-clinical and para-clinical courses will range from ₹7.92 lakh to ₹8.48 lakh per year. At Shri Sankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Junwani Bhilai, the annual fee for postgraduate clinical seats has been set at ₹10.54 lakh, with pre-clinical and para-clinical fees fixed at ₹8.48 lakh per year.

The committee determined these fees after thorough inspections of the private medical colleges, an investigation into prevailing fee rates in neighboring states, and consideration of Chhattisgarh’s economic conditions, including the average per capita income.

No Additional Charges Allowed

The committee has also mandated that all facilities are included in the fixed fees. Private medical colleges have been instructed not to charge extra for items such as uniforms, ID cards, laboratory use, cultural programs, sports activities, NSS participation, building maintenance, furniture, and equipment. Any college found charging fees beyond the fixed amount will face strict action.
