Shri Ramlala Adorned in Special Bastar Khadi Silk for Janmashtami in Ayodhya

A Symbol of Chhattisgarh’s Love and Devotion Woven by Local Artisans

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 28, 2024: Lord Shri Ramlala was beautifully adorned in a special yellow Khadi silk outfit, crafted by the skilled artisans of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, for the occasion of Janmashtami at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Sthal in Ayodhya. This marks the first Janmashtami celebration following the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of the deity, adding a significant cultural and spiritual layer to the festivities.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai expressed his pride and emotion at this unique gesture. “It is a matter of great fortune for us to see Shri Ramlala clothed in yellow Khadi silk from Chhattisgarh, particularly from Dandakaranya, where Lord Ram spent a significant part of his exile. This dress represents the love, faith, and unwavering dedication of the people of Chhattisgarh toward Lord Ram.”

The yellow Khadi silk garment, hand-printed with real gold powder, reflects the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of Chhattisgarh. Crafted with devotion by the artisans of Bastar, this special attire is more than just a garment; it is a symbol of the deep connection between Lord Ram and his maternal home, a place where he is affectionately remembered as “Bhancha Ram” (nephew Ram).

The Chief Minister further emphasized the emotional and spiritual significance of this gesture, noting that Chhattisgarh, as the maternal home of Lord Ram, holds a special place in the hearts of its people. The soil of this land, sanctified by Lord Ram’s presence during his exile, continues to be revered and cherished by the local community. The sending of this dress from Chhattisgarh to Ayodhya is a proud moment for the people of the state, symbolizing their deep-rooted traditions and unwavering faith.

Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Ayodhya, with the temple beautifully decorated with colorful flowers. Devotees prepared various offerings, including Panjiri and Panchamrit, for the Bhog. The celebration also featured kirtans and bhajans, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The dress sent from Chhattisgarh not only highlights the state’s cultural and spiritual heritage but also serves as a heartfelt expression of love and devotion from Lord Ram’s maternal home to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya.
