TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 30, 2024: In a significant action, the Dantewada Collector has imposed a hefty penalty of Rs 1,620 crore on NMDC Kirandul for alleged irregularities in its approved mining leases. The notice, issued by the collector, cites violations of the Chhattisgarh Mineral Rules 2009 and demands that the penalty amount be deposited within 15 days.
The penalty follows an earlier notice served to NMDC regarding breaches in mining operations at Mineral Nos. 14 and 11. The collector noted that the response provided by NMDC to the previous notice was unsatisfactory, leading to the imposition of the substantial fine.
This decisive move highlights the strict enforcement of mining regulations in the state, with the collector emphasizing the need for compliance and accountability in mining activities.
