TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 31, 2024: A team from the National Ayush Mission, based in New Delhi, praised the Swarnaprashan initiative being conducted at the Government Ayurveda College Hospital in Raipur. During their visit, the team observed the administration of Swarnaprashan to 1,660 children, an event held on the auspicious day of Pushya Nakshatra.
Swarnaprashan, an ancient Ayurvedic practice believed to boost immunity, enhance digestion, improve memory, and strengthen physical health, is regularly administered to children at the college hospital. The mission team engaged with hospital officials to gain insights into the practice and its outcomes. Dr. Lavekesh Chandravanshi, the Swarnaprashan Coordinator, reported that children who consistently participate in the program show positive results, including better immunity and overall physical and mental development. The college continues to study the effects of Swarnaprashan on these children.
The event was overseen by Ms. Iffat Ara, Director of the AYUSH Department, along with Principal Prof. Dr. G.R. Chaturvedi, Hospital Superintendent Prof. Dr. Praveen Kumar Joshi, and Head of the Department of Kaumarbhritya, Prof. Dr. Neeraj Agarwal. Dr. Chandravanshi also conducted health check-ups for the participating children.
The Swarnaprashan initiative has seen significant participation this year, with previous sessions on various Pushya Nakshatra dates administering the treatment to thousands of children. The hospital recorded 1,235 children on 25 January, 1,420 on 21 February, 1,720 on 18 March, 1,410 on 16 April, 1,256 on 13 May, 1,802 on 10 June, 1,342 on 8 July, and 1,370 on 3 August. The postgraduate and graduate students of the college have played a crucial role in supporting this monthly initiative.
