TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 31, 2024: In a significant push to boost tourism and highlight the unique cultural heritage of Bastar, the Chhattisgarh government has enlisted the help of social media influencers from across the country. These influencers, invited by the Bastar administration, will now play a crucial role in promoting the region’s natural beauty, rich traditions, and historical significance to a wider audience both within India and globally.
The influencers recently visited Bastar, where they explored the region’s indigenous culture, including its flora and fauna. Impressed by Bastar’s historic Dussehra festival and its scenic landscapes, they have pledged their support to help establish Bastar on the global tourism map through the concept of ‘The Bastar Madai.’
During a gathering at Badal Academy in Asana, Bastar District Administration officials briefed the influencers on the initiative. They were introduced to the Bastar Tourist Circuit Map and the theme music for ‘The Bastar Madai,’ both recently launched to promote the region’s tourism sector.
Bastar Collector Shri Vijay Dayaram K, who was present at the event, outlined the various attractions of the region, emphasizing that ‘The Bastar Madai’ is designed to showcase not only the famous Bastar Dussehra festival, which lasts for 75 days, but also the district’s natural beauty, historical and archaeological sites, adventure spots, and cultural venues.
The Bastar Tourist Circuit Map, part of the ‘The Bastar Madai’ initiative, categorizes the region’s attractions using a color-coded system: blue for water-related tourist spots, green for forest sites, brown for caves and archaeological sites, yellow for tribal culture and local markets, and red for spiritual sites including the temple of Goddess Maa Danteshwari and the historic Bastar Dussehra. The map highlights 42 tourist locations with detailed route information and transport options, making it easier for visitors to navigate the area.
In a symbolic gesture of respect, the social media influencers were honored with Dhurva Tuwal, a traditional garment presented by the Dhurva Tribe to esteemed guests. The event also featured captivating performances of Dhurva and Dandari folk dances by artists from Badal Academy, along with a melodious Gondi folk song, offering a glimpse into Bastar’s rich cultural heritage.
‘The Bastar Madai’ is envisioned as a vibrant exhibition that brings to life the various cultural aspects, community involvement, and heritage of Bastar. The initiative aims to promote the region’s natural beauty, abundant mineral and forest resources, and the historic Bastar Dussehra festival, positioning Bastar as a must-visit destination on the global tourism map.
