TFP Bureau, Raigarh, September 1, 2024:The Chakradhar Samaroh, a revered event in the world of arts, is set to make a grand comeback this year after a prolonged hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Scheduled from September 7 to 16 in Raigarh, the 10-day festival will feature a lineup of illustrious artists, including seven recipients of the prestigious Padma Shri award.
Padma Shri Hema Malini
Veteran actress and Bharatanatyam maestro Hema Malini, known for her significant contributions to Indian art and culture, will grace the festival with her presence. Her performances are celebrated for their technical precision, expressive storytelling, and stage presence, making her a beloved figure in both the cinematic and classical dance worlds. Hema Malini was honored with the Padma Shri in 2000.
Padma Shri Pandit Ramlal Bareth
Pandit Ramlal Bareth, a stalwart of the Raigarh Kathak tradition, will also be featured. His dedication to developing the Raigarh Kathak style into a recognized Gharana has earned him national acclaim. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2024 for his contributions to Indian dance.
Padma Shri Kumari Devyani
Renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Kumari Devyani, known for her performances across India and internationally, will perform at the event. An artist listed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Devyani was awarded the Padma Shri in 2009 for her contributions to dance.
Padma Shri Bharti Bandhu
Bharti Bandhu, a celebrated singer known for his Kabir bhajans, will also be part of the festival. With a career marked by thousands of performances, Bharti Bandhu was honored with the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contributions to music, particularly in the Sufi genre.
Padma Shri Anuj Sharma
Anuj Sharma, a prominent figure in Chhattisgarhi cinema and arts, will bring his multifaceted talents to the Chakradhar Samaroh. Known for his work in acting, directing, and singing, Sharma was awarded the Padma Shri in 2014 for his service to the arts.
Padma Shri Surendra Dubey
Surendra Dubey, a renowned humorist and poet, will perform his signature poetry at the event. Dubey, who has promoted the regional dialect and culture of Chhattisgarh on national and international stages, received the Padma Shri in 2010.
Padma Shri Ranjana Gauhar
Odissi dancer and choreographer Ranjana Gauhar, who has been recognized for her contributions to Indian classical dance with the Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, will also be a highlight of the festival. Gauhar was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003.
This year’s Chakradhar Samaroh promises to be a cultural extravaganza, celebrating the rich heritage of Raigarh and offering a platform for both celebrated and emerging artists.
