TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 2, 2024: In a significant gesture on the occasion of Teeja, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today extended a major gift to 70 lakh women across the state. During the Teeja-Pora Mahtari Vandan Tihar celebration at the Chief Minister’s residence, he transferred Rs 1,000 directly to the bank accounts of each woman as part of the seventh installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. The women expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister, affectionately referring to him as “Vishnu Bhaiya,” as their faces lit up with joy.
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was launched to enhance the economic self-reliance of women in the state, improve their health and nutrition, and ensure their decisive role within the family. The program also aims to combat discrimination and inequality faced by women in society. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month is provided to married, widowed, abandoned, and divorced women over the age of 21.
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024, with the release of the first installment. Since its inception, more than 70 lakh women have been selected as beneficiaries, and seven installments have now been successfully transferred into their bank accounts under this initiative.
