TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 11, 2024: Chhattisgarh is making strides in green energy by participating in the second International Green Hydrogen Conference, ‘Green Hydrogen India 2024,’ held in New Delhi from September 11 to 13. Organized by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the three-day event aims to position India as a global hub for green hydrogen production, use, and export.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the conference, with Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Puri and the Government of India’s Principal Scientific Advisor Professor Shri Ajay Sood in attendance. The event is focused on discussing advancements in green hydrogen technologies and creating networking opportunities within the global scientific and industrial community.
Chhattisgarh was represented by Shri Sumit Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer of the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA), who showcased the state’s initiatives in biomass-based green hydrogen production. Sarkar highlighted Chhattisgarh’s abundant biomass resources, such as agricultural waste, dairy by-products, market waste, and cow dung, which have significant potential for large-scale green hydrogen production.
Chhattisgarh’s green hydrogen efforts could play a crucial role in major industries like steel, food processing, and fertilizers, contributing to India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets the production of 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen by 2030. The state’s initiatives align with the country’s vision for energy conservation and self-reliance.
