TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 13, 2024: In a powerful address at the Collector-SP Conference, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai called for stronger law enforcement and swift justice for victims, emphasizing the need to instill a fear of the law in criminals. The CM underscored the importance of maintaining public trust in the police and urged law enforcement to adopt a more citizen-friendly approach. “Police stations should be places where citizens feel assured of help,” he stated during the conference held at the New Circuit House in Raipur.
Chief Minister Sai reviewed the state’s crime situation and instructed Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to work in close coordination to maintain law and order. He also highlighted the importance of adapting to recent amendments in the Penal Code, now known as the Code of Justice, ensuring its implementation across the state. Sai reaffirmed the government’s commitment to good governance, noting a decline in the crime rate, while emphasizing the need for further improvements.
Focus on Social Policing and Anti-Drug Campaigns
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to promote social policing, fostering closer ties between the police and the public to combat crime more effectively. He addressed key concerns like cow smuggling, drug abuse, and illegal alcohol sales, calling for rigorous action. He announced the launch of a targeted campaign against illegal activities such as alcohol and cannabis smuggling and gambling, urging the police to take strict action against those involved.
Shri Sai also raised concerns about fraudulent activities in the Farmer’s Honour Fund and insisted on immediate action. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of swift investigations, especially in murder cases, urging law enforcement to treat them with the highest priority.
Improving Policing Across Regions
While the CM acknowledged improvements in the Bilaspur police range, he pointed to unresolved cases of murder and robbery in Durg and called for immediate action. He praised certain achievements in Rajnandgaon but stressed the need for further improvements, especially in combating chit fund fraud.
Expressing concerns over the rising number of road accidents, Chief Minister Sai called for public education on traffic rules and emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and seatbelts to ensure road safety.
Tackling Land Mafia and Enhancing Capital Security
During his review of the Raipur police range, the CM instructed police to maintain close surveillance on land mafia activities in the capital, addressing complaints of illegal land encroachment. He called for joint efforts between the police and revenue department to combat this issue effectively.
Chief Minister Sai also directed the police to step up night patrols and dismantle organized crime networks in Raipur. He urged continuous monitoring and strategic campaigns to enhance security in the state capital.
The conference was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja, and other senior officials.
