Surguja District Administration Provides Rs. 15 Lakh Compensation to Families of Alumina Plant Accident Victims

Compensation delivered following Chief Minister’s orders; investigation into the fatal incident underway

TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 13, 2024: The Surguja district administration has awarded compensation of Rs. 15 lakh each to the families of four workers who tragically lost their lives in an industrial accident at the Maa Kudargadi Alumina Plant. The compensation follows the directives of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, who also ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

The accident occurred on the morning of September 8 at the plant in Silsila village, Lundra Janpad Panchayat, Surguja district. Following the tragedy, the Chief Minister called for swift action to support the victims’ families and launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the incident.

The district administration team personally visited the homes of the deceased to deliver the compensation cheques. The beneficiaries included Shri Karu Manjhi, father of the late Shri Karanvir Manjhi; Smt. Sunaina Devi, wife of the late Shri Rameshwar Manjhi; Shri Dhanraj Singh Rajput, father of the late Shri Prince Rajput; and Smt. Sonam Rajput, wife of the late Shri Manoj Singh Rajput. Each family was provided with a cheque of Rs. 15 lakh as financial assistance.

The investigation into the causes of the accident is ongoing, with the district administration aiming to ensure accountability and prevent future incidents.
