Chhattisgarh’s Efforts to Combat Malnutrition Make Significant Strides

Statewide initiatives under Nutrition Month focus on children’s health and awareness

TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 15, 2024: In line with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai’s directives, Chhattisgarh is making meaningful strides in its mission to eradicate malnutrition. Across the state, children are actively participating in Anganwadi centers, where innovative activities and events are being held to promote nutritional awareness. As part of these efforts, Nutrition Month is being celebrated in various districts to focus on the health and nutrition of children.

The state’s Poshan Abhiyan (Nutrition Campaign) includes monitoring children’s weight gains and hosting events such as the Weight Festival, Chaupal, Annaprashan Diwas, Family Chaupal, Nutrition Fairs, and Cuisine Displays in both rural and urban areas. To raise awareness in schools, competitions in slogan writing, essay writing, painting, and wall writing are being held, emphasizing the importance of nutrition.

At Anganwadi centers, group discussions are being organized to educate rural women on the diet and healthcare needs of children aged 0 to 6 years and adolescent girls. Experts are also providing guidance on proper nutrition for pregnant women.

In Jashpur district alone, the campaign is being implemented in 4,315 Anganwadi centers, benefiting over 76,000 children. The government’s focused efforts under the Poshan Maah Abhiyan are a crucial step towards improving children’s health across the state.
