Chhattisgarh Achieves Historic Milestone in National Lok Adalat

Over 8.84 Lakh Cases Resolved; Awards Exceeding Rs 229 Crore Passed

TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 21, 2024: The Third National Lok Adalat in Chhattisgarh marked a significant success, with the resolution of over 8.84 lakh cases and awards totaling more than Rs 229 crore. Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, who also serves as the Chief Patron of the State Legal Services Authority, virtually inspected the proceedings from all 23 District and Sessions Courts across the state.

Chief Justice Sinha engaged with Chief District Judges and presiding officers of other benches through a virtual platform, assessing the progress of the Lok Adalat. He encouraged the judiciary to expedite the resolution of cases, offering guidance and motivation to resolve as many disputes as possible. His visit to both Lok Adalat benches at the High Court in Bilaspur further reinforced the importance of settling cases through compromise.

Highlighting the integration of modern technology in judicial proceedings, the Chief Justice’s virtual oversight of all districts has been a significant step toward improving the efficiency of Lok Adalat. His proactive approach and encouragement to the presiding officers, members, and litigants have fostered greater trust in the process.

Chief Justice Sinha had previously held meetings with the Chief District Judges to ensure thorough preparation for the National Lok Adalat. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the delivery of swift, affordable, and accessible justice across Chhattisgarh, especially since taking office at the High Court.

From the High Court to Taluka-level courts and Revenue Courts, the National Lok Adalat in Chhattisgarh was a massive success. Notably, in Sukma district, where floods prevented physical attendance, cases were resolved through video conferencing, further showcasing the adaptability of the Lok Adalat system.

Chief Justice Sinha expressed gratitude to all the presiding officers, judges, district judges, revenue officers, police administration, judicial staff, paralegal volunteers, and parties involved, acknowledging their efforts in making this event a historic achievement for the state.
