Minimum Wage Rates and Dearness Allowance Set for Workers in Chhattisgarh

Variable dearness allowance increased in response to rising consumer prices, impacting various sectors

TFP Bureau,bRaipur; September 25, 2024: The Labor Commissioner of Chhattisgarh has announced new rates for minimum wages and variable dearness allowances for workers under the Minimum Wages Act, effective from 01 October 2024. This adjustment comes as part of the semi-annual review based on the consumer price index published by the Labor Bureau in Shimla.

Labor Commissioner Mrs. Alarmel Mangai D. reported that the industrial index rose by an average of 2.40 points from January to June 2024, resulting in an increase of ₹48 per month for workers in 45 scheduled employments, calculated at ₹20 per point.

For agricultural workers, the variable dearness allowance has been raised by ₹145 per month, reflecting an average increase of 29 points at ₹5 per point. Additionally, workers in the Agarbatti industry will see their variable dearness allowance set at ₹7.21 per thousand Agarbatti produced, while those in tobacco manufacturing, including bidi makers, will receive ₹28.30 per thousand bidis, based on the average rise in the Consumer Price Index.

Following these changes, the minimum wage rates for notified employments will be applicable from 01 October 2024 to 31 March 2025. The detailed wage rates for scheduled general employment can be accessed on the Chhattisgarh Government’s Labour Department website at www.cglabour.nic.in.
