TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 2, 2024: In a significant move to promote Khadi, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai announced a 25% discount on Khadi clothing purchases in Chhattisgarh. The announcement was made during the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in Raipur, where the Chief Minister observed an exhibition by the Khadi and Village Industries Department at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium.
The discount will be available from October 2, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Chief Minister Sai encouraged citizens to take advantage of the offer, highlighting the cultural and historical significance of Khadi, particularly its role in India’s freedom struggle.
At the event, the Chief Minister purchased a locally made Kosa saree with intricate tattoo art, showcasing the craftsmanship of Chhattisgarh’s weavers. He emphasized the hard work and skill of artisans in creating Khadi garments and urged people to support these traditional crafts.
“Khadi is not just a fabric; it’s a connection to our heritage and culture,” said Shri Sai, stressing the importance of supporting local weavers.
The event was also attended by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal, and various government officials.
