TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 10, 2024: In a significant move to empower rural families, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao attended a housing fair at the Lakhiram Agarwal Auditorium in Bilaspur, where he presented housing acceptance letters to 36,663 homeless families. This event, which coincided with the festive season, symbolized hope and new beginnings for many families in need. Additionally, Sao handed over keys to beneficiaries whose homes have already been completed.
In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Sao emphasized the importance of homeownership, describing it as a long-held dream for many. He praised the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for its role in making this dream a reality, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing housing for the underprivileged. He revealed that over ₹132 crore has been allocated for 33,019 beneficiaries in the Bilaspur district this year, with an ambitious goal of housing 18 lakh homeless families across the state.
Government’s Commitment to Rural Welfare
Sao highlighted the dedication of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in improving the lives of rural communities, particularly for the poor and farmers. He noted that the Chhattisgarh government swiftly launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas scheme, approving it just a day after assuming office. He also reminded attendees of the ₹3,716 crore transferred to 12 lakh farmers as bonus dues on December 25, reflecting the government’s commitment to rural welfare.
MLA Dharmjit Singh echoed Sao’s sentiments, reflecting on Modi’s tireless efforts over the past decade to meet the aspirations of the people. Bilaspur District Panchayat CEO RP Chauhan announced that for the financial year 2024-25, the goal is to approve 50,619 houses in the district. So far, 36,643 houses have been approved, with the first installment already released for 33,019 homes, marking a 93% achievement of the target for previously approved projects.
Beneficiaries Share Their Joy
The event witnessed overwhelming joy among beneficiaries as they received their housing approval letters and keys. Vedlal Baghel from Mahmand expressed relief at securing a Pucca house after enduring harsh weather conditions in a mud house. Pramila Baiga, a resident of Karka in the Kota development block, shared how owning a Pucca house has significantly improved her life, providing security and freeing her from previous hardships. She also mentioned her participation in the ‘Bihan’ scheme, underscoring the transformative impact of government initiatives.
The housing fair was attended by Collector Avnish Sharan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, local representatives, dignitaries, and numerous beneficiaries, all celebrating a significant step towards a better future.
