27th All India Forest Sports Festival Set to Take Place from October 16 to 22

Event to Feature Participation of Approximately 3,000 Players in 23 Sports Disciplines

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 11, 2024: The 27th All India Forest Sports Festival will take place in Chhattisgarh from October 16 to 22, showcasing an array of talent and sportsmanship over seven days. This year, around 3,000 participants will compete in 23 sports disciplines across 300 competitions.

Among the distinguished guests expected to attend are Olympic 2024 bronze medalist Ms. Manu Bhaker and Indian T20 cricket captain Surya Kumar Yadav, who will participate in both the opening and closing ceremonies. Their presence is set to inspire athletes and add prestige to the event.

Promoting Sports and Coordination Among Forest Department Employees

Initiated in 1992 under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the All India Forest Sports Competition aims to promote sports and foster collaboration among forest department employees at all levels. Chhattisgarh is hosting the event for the third time, with participation expected from approximately 2,320 male and 584 female athletes representing 29 states, eight Union Territories, and various forestry institutes.

Notable attendees at the opening ceremony will include Union Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Bihar’s Cooperative and Forest Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, Union Forest Department Secretary Leena Nandan, and Indian cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Nurturing Talent and Ensuring Fair Play

The festival seeks to identify and nurture sports talent within the forest department, promoting teamwork, concentration, and perseverance among participants. The competition will adhere to established sports regulations, with guidance from experts to ensure fairness and transparency. Athletes will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates of excellence for outstanding performances. Trophies will also be awarded to the top-performing states.

The closing ceremony on October 20 will celebrate the achievements of Ms. Manu Bhaker in shooting, highlighting her contributions to the sport. The festival will include a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, such as cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, badminton, chess, and bridge. Preparations for facilities and accommodations for the athletes have been finalized, setting the stage for a successful and memorable event.
