TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 11, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao attended a housing fair at the Lakhiram Agarwal Auditorium in Bilaspur, where he distributed housing acceptance letters to 36,663 homeless families, marking a significant step toward fulfilling their dreams of homeownership. During the event, he also symbolically handed over keys to beneficiaries whose homes have been completed, signaling a brighter future for these families.
In his address as the chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Sao emphasized that homeownership is a cherished dream for many. He highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) as a vital initiative to turn this dream into reality, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing housing for the underprivileged. He announced that over ₹132 crore has been allocated for 33,019 beneficiaries in the Bilaspur district this year, with the state aiming to house 18 lakh homeless families.
Government’s Commitment to Rural Welfare
Sao underscored the ongoing efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the lives of the people, particularly in rural areas, while prioritizing the needs of the poor and farmers. He recounted how the Chhattisgarh government promptly initiated the PMAY, approving the project just a day after taking office. Additionally, he highlighted the transfer of ₹3,716 crore in bonus dues to 12 lakh farmers on December 25, honoring the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the government remains dedicated to improving the welfare of rural communities.
MLA Dharmjit Singh reflected on the past decade, acknowledging Modi’s tireless efforts to meet the aspirations of the populace. Bilaspur District Panchayat CEO RP Chauhan revealed that the target for the financial year 2024-25 is to approve 50,619 houses in the district. Thus far, 36,643 houses have been approved, with the first installment already released for 33,019 homes, achieving approximately 93% of the target for previously approved projects. The event was also attended by Collector Avnish Sharan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, local representatives, and dignitaries.
Beneficiaries Share Their Joy
The housing fair was filled with smiles as beneficiaries received their housing approval letters and new house keys. Vedlal Baghel from Mahmand expressed relief at securing a Pucca house after enduring harsh weather in a mud structure. “This new home will change my life,” he said. Pramila Baiga, a resident of Karka in the Kota development block, shared how owning a Pucca house has significantly eased her challenges, providing her with a sense of security and saving her time and effort. She also noted her participation in the ‘Bihan’ scheme, emphasizing the transformative impact of government initiatives on her life.
