Raigarh Workshop Highlights Joint Efforts in Combating Cybercrime and Promoting Water Conservation

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 11, 2024: A significant workshop addressing cybersecurity and water conservation was held at the Municipal Corporation Auditorium in Raigarh on Thursday. The event brought together judicial, legislative, and executive representatives to raise awareness of these pressing social issues. Supreme Court Justice Prashant Mishra served as the chief guest, with Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary attending as a special guest. The workshop featured detailed presentations aimed at educating attendees on the importance of cybersecurity and water conservation, organized by the District Legal Services Authority alongside local police and administrative bodies.

Justice Prashant Mishra underscored the urgent need for increased cyber awareness and effective water conservation practices in today’s society. He emphasized the necessity of being informed about the risks of cybercrimes, recounting instances where fraudsters posed as judicial officials to deceive individuals. “Awareness of cybercrimes is vital for prevention,” he stated, advocating for vigilance in the face of advancing technology. Justice Mishra also noted that creating a sustainable environment through water conservation requires active involvement from all citizens and commended local authorities for their efforts in promoting these initiatives.

Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary echoed these sentiments, highlighting the alarming increase in cybercrimes and the resulting financial losses, which he argued often surpass those associated with traditional crimes. He called for citizens to educate themselves and their families on preventive measures. Additionally, Choudhary praised the district’s water conservation initiatives, stressing the importance of safeguarding groundwater resources and environmental protection. He shared details about government efforts in Naya Raipur, including the “People for People” tree-planting campaign and similar projects in Raigarh, urging a collective commitment to preserving nature.

During the workshop, Collector Kartikeya Goyal reinforced the necessity of awareness regarding cybersecurity and water conservation for all citizens. Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel concluded the event by thanking participants and stressing the need for coordinated efforts to achieve these social objectives. He highlighted a series of events being organized across the district as part of the Cyber Awareness Pakhwada initiative, running from October 5 to 19.

Public Participation Key to Water Conservation Success

The workshop also featured insights from Jitendra Yadav, CEO of the District Panchayat, who reported on ongoing community engagement efforts in water conservation. He mentioned the establishment of over 10,000 soak pits and the planting of 50,000 peepal trees aimed at enhancing water management. The initiative seeks to empower women in conservation efforts and encourages significant community involvement in cleanliness and environmental protection. Yadav emphasized that collective action is crucial for ensuring sustainable water resources for future generations.

Raising Awareness through Cyber Subah Drive

SP Divyang Patel announced the launch of a special initiative called Cyber Subah by the Raigarh police, aimed at raising awareness about cybercrime. The campaign shares daily information regarding new cyber fraud tactics and preventive measures through various social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Facebook.

Awareness is the First Line of Defense Against Cyber Crime

During his presentation, DSP Cyber Abhinav Upadhyay stressed that awareness is the first line of defense against cybercrime. He discussed various scams, including fake online trading, social media profile cloning, call forwarding, sextortion, OTP fraud, and ticket scams. Upadhyay urged attendees to exercise caution online, secure their social media profiles, and utilize two-step verification to enhance their cybersecurity.
