TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 15, 2024: The preliminary publication of the voter list for the upcoming urban body elections in Chhattisgarh will take place on October 16, 2024. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh has directed all District Election Officers to ensure the completion of the electoral roll process in accordance with the timeline set by the Election Commission. Elections are scheduled in 167 urban bodies across the state.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of accurately updating the voter list and instructed officials to include the names of individuals who have turned 18 by January 1, 2024. Voters will have the opportunity to review the preliminary list and raise objections or request corrections.
Process for Claims and Corrections
Once the preliminary voter list is published, voters will be able to verify their inclusion. Any discrepancies, such as missing names or incorrect details, can be reported for correction. The Commission has laid out a specific procedure for voters to apply for the addition, deletion, or modification of their names on the list.
Key deadlines include October 23 for the submission of claims and objections, with decisions on these being finalized by October 29. The final voter list will be published on November 22, following a thorough review process.
