Raipur to Host 83rd Session of Indian Road Congress in November

Five-day event will showcase Chhattisgarh’s cultural and developmental milestones to national and international participants

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 16, 2024: The 83rd Annual Session of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) is set to take place in Raipur from November 7 to November 11. This prestigious five-day event will be hosted at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium and Science College Campus, with participants from across India and abroad gathering to witness the advancements in road infrastructure and learn about the cultural richness and development of Chhattisgarh.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao, who is overseeing the preparations, held a review meeting at Naveen Vishram Bhavan in Raipur. He instructed officials to ensure that the convention reflects the state’s hospitality and offers visitors a glimpse into Chhattisgarh’s splendor, culture, and multidimensional growth.

During the meeting, attended by key officials including Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Chief Engineer Shri KK Pipri, and representatives from the National Highways Authority of India and the Road Transport Ministry, Shri Sao emphasized the need for meticulous arrangements to ensure a successful event. He called for the active participation of local engineers to engage with new research and technologies being adopted nationwide.

Shri Sao directed that the convention should feature exhibitions from leading institutions such as NMDC, NTPC, SAIL (Bhilai Steel Plant), and Chhattisgarh Power Generation Company, showcasing the state’s achievements in power and infrastructure. Stalls featuring Chhattisgarh’s handicrafts, village industries, tourism, and forest development will also be set up to highlight the region’s artistic and folk traditions.

Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged the organization of competitions for young engineers and student memberships for top engineering students from the state’s colleges. He urged Public Works Department engineers to actively participate in discussions on cutting-edge construction technologies and research being implemented across the country.

Shri Sao also called for widespread promotion of the event to ensure that engineers from across the state can benefit from lectures and workshops delivered by scientists from India’s leading institutions.
