TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 24, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai presided over the 20th meeting of the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Fund Advisory Committee today at his residence office, where several key funding approvals for mineral projects and infrastructure developments were made.
Attending the meeting were Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Chief Minister’s Secretaries Shri P. Dayanand and Shri Rahul Bhagat, Finance Secretary Smt. Sharda Verma, and other senior officials from the Mineral Resources Directorate.
During the discussions, Chief Minister Sai emphasized the need to focus on large-scale infrastructure developments across the state. Following the review of fund usage and previous committee decisions, the committee approved a substantial allocation of Rs 300 crore to the Chhattisgarh Railway Corporation for the acquisition of land and initial construction work on the Dongargarh-Kabirdham-Mungeli-Katghora railway line.
Additionally, the committee sanctioned Rs 83 crore for mineral exploration, mineral block auctions, and the implementation of IT-based regulations for mining operations by the Directorate of Geology and Mining. An extra Rs 20 crore was also allocated to assess the potential for increasing mineral revenue and to collaborate with expert institutions aimed at enhancing the mining sector’s productivity.
It is notable that five percent of the total mineral revenue collected by the Mineral Resources Department annually is earmarked for the Mineral Development Fund. This fund is dedicated to developing essential infrastructure in line with the Advisory Committee’s recommendations.
