The event, organized under the guidance of Tribal Development Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, will honor the contributions and sacrifices of tribal freedom fighters, particularly Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The occasion aims to inspire citizens by remembering their sacrifices and achievements.

Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, Shri Sonamni Bora, issued instructions through video conferencing to the state’s collectors, Chief Executive Officers of District Panchayats, and Assistant Commissioners of the Tribal Development Department to ensure all preparations are in place. The state-level event will be conducted under the coordination of the Tribal Development Department and the Tribal Research and Training Institute.

Commemorating Tribal Contributions

Tribal Pride Day, officially recognized by the Union Cabinet in 2021, commemorates the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and serves as a day to honor tribal freedom fighters and their lasting impact. This year, the event will be organized around the theme “Social, Economic Development, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship, Art-Culture and Heritage, Education and Skill Development, Health and Lifestyle.” The initiative aims to protect and promote the interests of the tribal community, with participation from 17 state departments and 25 schemes.

Chhattisgarh, a state with a significant tribal population, will mark the occasion with a series of district-level and state-level activities. According to the 2011 Census, 30.62% of the state’s population belongs to tribal communities, with 43 major tribes and 162 sub-castes. The program will not only highlight the sacrifices of tribal leaders but also emphasize the state’s commitment to the upliftment of tribal communities through various initiatives.
