Focus on innovative road construction techniques highlights 83rd annual conference

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 9, 2024: The 83rd Annual Session of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) continued in Raipur, spotlighting the latest technological advancements in road construction. Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Ajay Tamta, attended the event at Science College Grounds, where he toured an exhibition showcasing new technical equipment aimed at improving infrastructure development.

The session brought together engineers, experts, and representatives from Central and State Government construction departments across the country. Discussions centered on innovative techniques for road construction and maintenance, with presentations on cutting-edge machinery, materials, and software. Notably, IIT Roorkee’s research scholar Preeti Rai, along with professors Dr. Praveen Kumar and Dr. Nikhil Saboo, presented their findings during the technical session.

The conference also hosted the 84th meeting of the Highway Research Board (HRB), led by HRB Chairman and Director (RD) and Special Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Mr. D. Sarangi. Senior IRC officials, including Secretary General Mr. S.K. Nirmal, along with representatives from research institutes, academia, and the private sector, joined discussions on road research, sustainable development, and the integration of green technologies.

The IRC’s annual session has emphasized collaboration among industry leaders and researchers to advance India’s road infrastructure with sustainable and innovative approaches, positioning the country at the forefront of modernized road development.
