TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 14, 2024: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai launched Chhattisgarh’s ambitious new Industrial Development Policy 2024-30 at an event at Mayfair Resort in Nava Raipur, focusing on employment generation and the state’s economic development. The policy, crafted to promote a “developed Chhattisgarh,” offers incentives to industries for local job creation and prioritizes sectors with high growth potential.
Outlining the goals, Chief Minister Sai emphasized, “This policy aims to transform Chhattisgarh by prioritizing local employment and skill development in line with India’s Vision-2047.” The policy provides financial support for training, with Rs 15,000 per person monthly allocated for employment-oriented programs. Industries employing over 1,000 youth will receive additional concessions.
Key elements include incentives for tourism, healthcare, and service-based enterprises, recognizing Chhattisgarh’s strategic central location and potential to become a national “health hub.” Sai announced plans for a new industrial zone spanning 118 acres near Jagdalpur, with relaxed land requirements for private industrial parks, reducing the minimum land size to 15 acres.
The policy is particularly inclusive, offering special grants to marginalized groups including Agniveers, surrendered Naxalites, and individuals from Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Land will also be provided at minimal rates to SC/ST entrepreneurs, with the aim of fostering self-employment within these communities. The policy further streamlines processes for businesses, enabling self-certification to minimize government intervention.
Chhattisgarh’s Industrial Development Policy 2024-30, effective from November 1, 2024, sets a target of creating 500,000 formal sector jobs within five years. It encourages investment in industries with competitive advantages, including pharmaceuticals, textiles, IT, and artificial intelligence. The service sector, particularly tourism, health, and entertainment, will receive separate incentives, reflecting a broader strategy to diversify the state’s industrial base.
Significant figures at the event included Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Industry Minister Lakhanlal Devangan, and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, as well as officials and industrialists. Commerce Secretary Rajat Kumar presented the policy’s detailed framework, noting that the three development blocks in Chhattisgarh have been organized to maximize incentives based on regional needs.
The policy also introduces environmental initiatives, with grants for sustainable practices like water and energy efficiency. For industries focusing on green hydrogen and compressed biogas, additional support will be provided to meet environmental standards, advancing the state’s commitment to sustainable growth.
The launch of the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30 underscores Chhattisgarh’s resolve to position itself as a hub for industry and employment, ensuring inclusive growth and prosperity for its residents.
