TFP Bureau, Korba, November 20, 2024: On International Men’s Day, BALCO proudly celebrated the wide-ranging contributions of the men in its workforce, highlighting the diverse roles they play, both at work and in their personal lives. From caregivers to mentors, artists, and nurturers, the men at BALCO embody a full spectrum of identities that go beyond traditional perceptions of strength and resilience.
“We often view men as symbols of strength and resilience, but their lives encompass so much more,” said a BALCO spokesperson. “This day is an opportunity to celebrate their compassion, creativity, and dedication—qualities that help create a balanced and equitable world.”
Among those celebrated was Vikas Mahant, a patient attendant at BALCO Hospital, whose day is spent tending to the needs of patients. “Helping patients and seeing them smile reminds me that even the smallest acts of care can make a difference,” Vikas shared. “This gives me purpose and joy in my work.”
R. Pradeep Panicker, Supervisor at the Plant Canteen, sees his role as central to building relationships and ensuring everyone at BALCO feels valued. “It’s about creating an experience where people feel cared for, not just feeding them,” he explained. “The smiles of our team and visitors are my biggest satisfaction.”
At home, Ankur Sarkar, Assistant Manager in Operations and Maintenance, finds solace and joy in the company of his pets. “My parents taught me to respect all life forms, and my pets offer me unconditional love after a long day. They remind me of the beauty of simple, pure connections,” he said.
Harish Dewangan, Senior Process Technician, finds artistic expression in painting, a passion that has provided him solace and taught him patience. “Painting has always helped me find balance in life and has earned me recognition,” he reflected.
In the kitchen of the BALCO GET Hostel, Jeet Singh Negi, Chief Chef, finds joy in preparing meals for the BALCO team. “The aroma of the food is a reflection of my happiness,” Jeet shared. “Serving over 200 people daily and seeing them enjoy the food fills me with pride.”
Hiramani Vaishnav, from Potline, uses poetry as a creative outlet. “I started writing poetry as a personal pursuit, but with encouragement from my colleagues, I began sharing it with others. It has added a unique dimension to my work life,” he said.
To honor these multifaceted men, BALCO organized a series of activities across its operations, celebrating their diverse contributions and breaking stereotypes about what it means to be a man. These celebrations highlighted the importance of men as individuals who balance professional responsibilities with personal passions and commitments.
BALCO’s International Men’s Day celebrations underscore the company’s commitment to promoting an inclusive workplace, where individuals of all genders are empowered to thrive and are celebrated for their unique contributions.
