TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 20, 2024: In a heartwarming shift, the violence-stricken areas of Chhattisgarh are now witnessing the melodies of celebration as Naxal-affected regions embrace peace and prosperity. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, significant strides have been made to restore normalcy in these regions, with the Chief Minister Kanya Vivaah Yojana playing a pivotal role in transforming lives.
In a grand mass wedding ceremony held at the Mendka Dobra temple complex in Dantewada, 220 couples from across the district were united in matrimony. Among them was a soldier stationed in Purvarti who married a Naxal victim, symbolizing a new beginning for a village once synonymous with insurgency.
Purvarti, once notorious as the home of Naxal leaders Hidma and Deva, is undergoing a remarkable transformation under the new government. With the establishment of security camps and implementation of government schemes, residents of the village are living without fear, embracing opportunities for growth and development.
Chief Minister Sai’s government has launched numerous initiatives to uplift villages, farmers, and the underprivileged, ensuring a steady decline in Naxal influence. The mass marriage program, a hallmark of the Chief Minister Kanya Vivaah Yojana, reflects this commitment. The scheme not only relieves families of marriage-related expenses but also provides financial support of ₹35,000 to the bride after the ceremony.
Stories of Transformation
Among the 220 couples, two from the remote village of Niyyad Nella Nar, Dhurli, shared their gratitude for the program. Seema Bhaskar, a municipal worker with a high school education, married farmer Remesh Bhaskar, while Sundari Telam and Dhannu Kunjam, both laborers, also tied the knot. The couples praised the scheme for alleviating financial burdens and providing much-needed support to rural families.
“This initiative has given us a new start without the stress of heavy expenses,” said Seema. “It’s a lifeline for poor families like ours.”
The mass wedding ceremony in Dantewada symbolizes a brighter future for communities long plagued by violence and uncertainty. As the echoes of bullets fade into history, the sound of wedding shehnai marks a new dawn for Chhattisgarh, where peace and prosperity are now the guiding forces.
