Chhattisgarh to Emerge as a Global Hub for Medical Tourism

# State Proposes Development of International-Level Medicity in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar
# Medicity to Cover 200 Acres with 5,000-Bed Capacity and Modern Healthcare Facilities

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 24, 2024: Chhattisgarh is set to make its mark on the global medical tourism map with the proposed development of an international-standard Medicity in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Spread across 200 acres in Sector 37, this state-of-the-art facility will offer advanced healthcare services and world-class infrastructure, making it a major destination for medical tourism in India.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has prioritized the project to provide exceptional healthcare services under one roof for the citizens of Chhattisgarh and neighboring states. The Medicity, envisioned as a hub of modern medical excellence, will include multispecialty hospitals, medical colleges, diagnostic centers, hostels, hotels, and commercial facilities. It is proposed to have a capacity of approximately 5,000 beds, supported by private investments.

The Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority (NRANVP), under the guidance of Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary, has identified the land and initiated efforts to implement the project. A preliminary coordination meeting has been held with the Central Government undertaking, Infrantek Services Limited, to outline the roadmap for this ambitious initiative.

The Medicity is also planned to align with the Prime Minister Medicity Scheme to secure additional support and recognition. The state government is working on improving connectivity by facilitating international flights from Swami Vivekananda Airport, which is located near the proposed site. This strategic location will enhance accessibility for domestic and international patients, further strengthening Chhattisgarh’s position as a medical tourism destination.

“The development of this fully-equipped Medicity is a step towards transforming Chhattisgarh into an international healthcare hub. It will cater to patients not just from the state but also from neighboring regions, offering modern treatment facilities, quality care, and an integrated healthcare ecosystem,” Chief Minister Sai said.

The Medicity project aims to integrate healthcare with education by establishing medical colleges and research facilities. In addition, amenities like Dharamshalas and hotels will be developed to provide comprehensive support to patients and their families.

This visionary project is expected to enhance Chhattisgarh’s healthcare infrastructure and create opportunities for employment and private sector collaboration. With the state government’s proactive steps, Chhattisgarh is on track to gain international recognition in the field of medical tourism.
