Rural Residents in 17 Chhattisgarh Districts to Receive Ownership Rights under Swamitva Yojana

Prime Minister Modi to Distribute 57 Lakh Property Cards Virtually, Chief Minister to Attend Local Event in Dhamtari

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 26, 2024: In a significant step towards empowering rural residents, over 50,000 landowners in 17 districts of Chhattisgarh will receive property rights under the Swamitva Yojana. The initiative, aimed at digitizing land records and providing ownership to rural populations, will see Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually distribute 57 lakh property cards across the country on December 27.

Under this program, rural residents in Chhattisgarh’s 10 districts will receive records of rights along with ownership documents for their land. The virtual event, scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm, will include distribution ceremonies across various districts in the state. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai will attend the function in Dhamtari, while other state ministers will participate in celebrations across different districts, including Korba, Durg, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, and Surguja.

The Swamitva Yojana, launched in April 2020, aims to provide property rights through the digitization of land records using drone surveys and GIS maps. This initiative is designed to resolve land disputes, simplify the buying and selling of property, and enable easier access to bank loans for landowners. By digitizing land records, the program also aims to safeguard government and public properties.

So far, drone surveys have been completed in 3.17 lakh villages across the country, with 2.19 crore property cards issued for 1.49 lakh villages. In Chhattisgarh, drone surveys have been completed in all populated villages, resulting in 1.84 lakh property cards for 1,384 villages.
