TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 27, 2024: The State Congress has urged the government to resolve the service matter of 2,897 B.Ed. trained assistant teachers who are protesting to save their jobs. These teachers, who were recruited after a formal process, now face uncertainty following a legal deadlock.
Sushil Anand Shukla, President of the State Congress Communication Department, criticized the government for inaction and demanded an immediate solution. He suggested that the government accommodate the affected teachers in other posts within the education department, such as laboratory assistants or higher-category teachers, ensuring they remain on the same pay scale.
“These teachers were not only appointed during the Congress tenure but also underwent counseling and appointments as recently as February and March 2024 under the BJP government. Most of these teachers belong to remote areas in Bastar and Surguja divisions, with 70% from the Scheduled Tribe category. Their future is at stake, and the government must take a sympathetic decision,” Shukla stated.
He emphasized that with 70,000 vacancies in the education department and the recruitment process for 33,000 posts halted, there is ample scope to accommodate the affected teachers. Shukla also called for a separate recruitment process for D.Ed. trained teachers to address their concerns without jeopardizing the jobs of those already appointed.
The Congress urged the government to act swiftly to prevent further hardship for the agitating teachers and ensure job security for those already in service.
