State Declares Seven Days of Mourning for Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh

National flag to be flown at half-mast; cultural events canceled statewide

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 27, 2024: Following the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Chhattisgarh government has declared a seven-day state mourning from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025. Dr. Singh, aged 92, passed away in New Delhi on Thursday night.

During the mourning period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and public institutions where the flag is regularly hoisted. Additionally, all government-organized entertainment and cultural programs in the state have been canceled as a mark of respect.

The announcement, made by order of the Governor of Chhattisgarh, reflects the profound impact of Dr. Singh’s leadership on the nation. Known for his transformative role in India’s economic reforms and his tenure as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, Dr. Singh leaves behind a legacy of statesmanship and vision.
