TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 28, 2024: In a significant push to position Chhattisgarh as a hub for pharmaceutical research and development, the state government has approved the establishment of its first pharmaceutical park in Nava Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai announced the project, which is aimed at strengthening healthcare facilities, attracting global investment, and creating employment opportunities.
The Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran (NRDA) has allotted 141.84 acres of land in Sector 22, village Tuta, to the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) for the initiative. Under the state’s industrial policy, the pharmaceutical park will benefit from a range of incentives to attract industries specializing in pharmaceuticals and AYUSH products.
“Our vision is to make world-class medical services easily accessible to the people of Chhattisgarh,” said Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. “This pharmaceutical park is a step toward developing a robust healthcare ecosystem in the state. It will not only enhance domestic and international investment but also provide significant employment opportunities for local youth, contributing to Chhattisgarh’s economic growth.”
The park will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a flatted factory complex, a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), a research and development center, and a testing laboratory. Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary highlighted that all necessary facilities would be provided to pharmaceutical units in the park.
The government’s industrial policy offers extensive incentives to large enterprises, including up to 100% reimbursement of net SGST paid for 12 years, grants of up to ₹300 crore for capital investments exceeding ₹500 crore, and exemptions on electricity duty and stamp duty.
The pharmaceutical park aligns with the state’s broader healthcare initiatives, such as the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme, which currently provides free treatment of up to ₹5 lakh for 77.2 lakh families and aims to increase this limit to ₹10 lakh. Additionally, under the Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme, financial aid of up to ₹25 lakh is available for treatment in special cases.
The project is expected to meet the growing demand for healthcare products domestically and globally while fostering healthy competition within the pharmaceutical sector.
