Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw Kicks Off New Year with Inspection of Jal Jeevan Mission Projects

Focus on Expediting Water Supply Projects for Rural Areas

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 1, 2025: On the very first day of the new year, Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Arun Sao launched a field inspection to accelerate the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Chhattisgarh. His visit to Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, about 75 km from Raipur, included a thorough review of the ongoing Agamdham-Khandwa Multi-Village Water Supply Scheme.

Inspection of Agamdham-Khandwa Water Supply Project

Shri Saw conducted a surprise inspection of the intake well and water treatment plant under construction in Tora and Kirwai villages, respectively. He examined the water purification process and quality of construction materials being used. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the need for timely completion and high-quality standards, stressing that the project will provide clean drinking water to 50 villages in the region.

“The Agamdham-Khandwa Multi-Village Scheme is a major initiative that will benefit 15,000 families by providing safe drinking water from Shivnath river. The construction must be completed with utmost care and efficiency,” Shri Sao remarked.

75-Crore Scheme Benefitting Over 15,000 Families

The scheme, estimated to cost approximately Rs 75 crore, is already 40% complete. It will ensure piped water supply to 50 villages in the Simga development block, with 212 houses already receiving tap connections. The remaining work, including pipeline installation and tank construction, is expected to be completed by June 2025.

On-the-Ground Feedback from Villagers

Shri Saw also visited the Single-Village Water Supply Scheme in Saddu, Tilda development block, Raipur district, where he inspected water tanks and received feedback from villagers. After visiting homes and speaking with local women, he confirmed that the new tap connections are providing sufficient water. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Saddu village now has 504 tap connections, serving a larger portion of the community.

During his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged villagers to take ownership of the water infrastructure, reminding them to maintain and protect the system. He also stressed the role of Gram Panchayats in managing the Nal Jal Yojana after its completion.

Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, Shri Rajesh Gupta, and other departmental officers were also present during the inspection.
