TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 3, 2025: In a significant move to support farmers, the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, continues its smooth and efficient paddy procurement process. The initiative, launched on November 14, 2024, has seen remarkable progress, with 93.44 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured so far.
The government has paid over Rs 21,040 crore to 18.69 lakh farmers for their paddy, through the bank linking system. With procurement activities continuing until January 31, 2025, officials are working to ensure that all registered farmers can sell their paddy conveniently and in a timely manner.
To facilitate this, the state has made online and offline token systems available for farmers through the “Token Tunhar Hath” app and at procurement centers. Farmers can now select dates that suit them to sell their paddy, ensuring ease of access and flexibility. The token system is available until January 25, 2025.
In addition to procurement, the government is also focusing on rapid lifting of the paddy. So far, Delivery Orders (DO) and Transport Orders (TO) have been issued for 62.72 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, and 36.38 lakh metric tonnes have already been lifted.
According to food department officials, the registration process for this year has seen 27.78 lakh farmers, including 1.59 lakh new farmers, enrolled for the Kharif marketing year 2024-25. The government is expecting to purchase an estimated 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through 2,739 procurement centers.
On January 2, 2025, 2.90 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured from 62,494 farmers, with 81,926 tokens issued. For the following day, 83,303 tokens were issued. This ongoing procurement campaign is a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring a seamless process throughout the season.
