TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 5, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated and performed Bhoomi Pujan for 193 development works worth Rs 338 crore in Gariaband district today, reinforcing the government’s commitment to uplifting the region, especially its special backward tribes. Speaking at a public meeting at the Police Parade Ground, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to bring sustainable development to the forest-rich district, home to a large population of the Kamar tribe and other marginalized communities.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is fulfilling every promise made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, including the PM Janman Yojana. The scheme is aimed at ensuring that special backward tribes are integrated into the mainstream, with over 2,500 houses already approved for the Kamar tribe in Gariaband.
Key Announcements and Projects
During the event, Chief Minister Shri Sai inaugurated 44 projects valued at Rs 119 crore and laid the foundation for 149 projects worth Rs 219 crore. A significant announcement was the construction of a bridge over Belat Nala, which will connect 36 remote villages in the Devbhog-Jhakharpara area, improving transportation for locals. The Chief Minister also distributed agricultural pumps, fish nets, and other materials worth Rs 1.27 crore to 99 beneficiaries under various schemes, and handed over appointment letters to Anganwadi workers and compassionate appointees.
Shri Sai also highlighted infrastructure improvements, with 49 roads being constructed across Gariaband district at a cost of Rs 58 crore. The roads will provide vital connectivity for the Kamar tribe, enabling easier access to education, healthcare, and emergency services.
Progress in Key Development Areas
The Chief Minister further mentioned the fast-paced work on the Sikasar Kodar Link Project, which involves a 112 km underground canal lining, benefiting thousands of farmers in Gariaband. He also announced the opening of dialysis centres at the district headquarters and Devbhog, aimed at assisting kidney patients, and promised further health solutions to tackle local issues.
Additionally, Shri Sai expressed pride in Gariaband’s record-breaking achievement under the “Tree Plantation in the Name of Mother” campaign, which saw over 87,000 saplings planted in a single day, earning a place in the Limca Book of World Records. He praised the district administration’s innovation in organizing educational initiatives, including the “Gaurav Gariaband” campaign to improve results in board exams and the establishment of digital classrooms for students.
Reviving Cultural Significance and Future Plans
Reflecting on the cultural revival of the region, Shri Sai shared that the Rajim Kumbh Mela, a historic religious gathering that was once reduced in grandeur, will be held again next month. The Chief Minister expressed his determination to restore the event to its former glory, bringing together saints from across the country for spiritual discourse.
The program also saw addresses by District In-Charge Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, Mahasamund MP Smt. Roopkumari Chaudhary, and Rajim MLA Shri Rohit Sahu, along with other public representatives and a large gathering of villagers.
The developments announced today mark a significant step forward in the government’s mission to uplift Gariaband and its people, ensuring that the district thrives in both infrastructure and socio-economic progress.
