Condemns Naxalite Attack as Assault on Democracy; Vows to Continue Anti-Naxal Campaign

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai pays an emotional tribute to the eight DRG jawans Martyrs

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 7, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai paid an emotional tribute to the eight DRG jawans and a driver martyred in an IED blast in Bijapur district’s Kutru area. The solemn ceremony, held at Karli Police Line in Dantewada on Monday, witnessed the CM offering wreaths and meeting the bereaved families. The attack, carried out by Naxalites, is seen as a direct challenge to democracy and peace.

Visibly moved, CM Sai consoled the grieving families and assured them of the state government’s unwavering support. “This cowardly act by Naxalites is not just an attack on our brave soldiers but also on the values of democracy and peace. Their sacrifice will not go in vain. Our campaign to eradicate Naxalism will continue with full determination,” he stated.

The tribute ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, Dantewada MLA Chaitram Atami, Bijapur MLA Vikram Mandavi, and other political and administrative dignitaries. Senior police officers, including DGP Ashok Juneja and Bastar IG Sundarraj P., also paid their respects.

In a poignant moment, CM Sai and other officials carried the mortal remains of martyred soldier Baman Sodhi to his native village, ensuring that all the martyrs received respectful farewells in their hometowns.

Addressing the media, CM Sai condemned the attack and reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring peace in the Bastar region. “Violence and terror will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Our government is resolute in its mission to establish peace in Bastar and eradicate Naxalism by March 2026,” he asserted.

The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of eight DRG jawans and a driver, highlights the ongoing challenges in the fight against Naxalism. The Chief Minister’s assurance of relentless action reflects the state’s determination to honor the martyrs’ sacrifice and secure a peaceful future for Chhattisgarh.
