TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 10, 2025: Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, accompanied by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, offered prayers to Lord Shri Parshvanath at the renowned Jain temple in Nagpura, Durg district. Together with Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Saw and Shri Vijay Sharma, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, and other public figures, they prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of Chhattisgarh’s citizens.
Double Engine Government’s Commitment to Transform Chhattisgarh’s Fate
Addressing a gathering at the More Housing More Rights program, Shri Chouhan highlighted the ongoing efforts of the “double engine” government—Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the center and Shri Vishnu Dev Sai in the state—working tirelessly to transform the state’s future. As part of this initiative, Shri Chouhan announced the sanctioning of 3,03,384 new houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for Chhattisgarh.
Shri Chouhan emphasized that the promise of housing to the poor, made by Prime Minister Modi, was being fulfilled. So far, over 8.47 lakh homes have been approved for Chhattisgarh under this scheme. To further expand access, the central government has raised the maximum income limit for eligibility to Rs 15,000, and those with two and a half acres of irrigated land or five acres of non-irrigated land are now also eligible to apply.
Chhattisgarh’s Progress: Achievements and Future Goals
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai spoke about the success of the state’s housing initiatives, marking the completion of one year in office. He recalled the approval of 18 lakh houses in Chhattisgarh in the first cabinet meeting. The state government has also ensured timely transfers of pending farmer bonuses, provided a record procurement of paddy, and promised a new era of growth with a focus on housing and rural development.
The state’s focus on women empowerment, especially through the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, was also highlighted, with significant progress in providing construction material for PMAY houses by self-help groups. Moreover, steps to strengthen rural connectivity through an extensive road development program were praised.
State and Central Collaboration Drives Unprecedented Progress
The event also witnessed the distribution of construction materials to Rural Mason trainees and the honoring of Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats, and other voluntary organizations for their excellent work. Under the leadership of both the central and state governments, the unprecedented progress in housing and road infrastructure in Chhattisgarh is being celebrated as a transformative milestone.
Shri Chouhan, Shri Sai, and other public representatives assured continued dedication to fulfilling the promises made to Chhattisgarh’s citizens, particularly the marginalized and rural populations.
