Tribal Development a Priority Under PM Modi’s Vision, Says Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai

Snake Park and New Tehsil Announced in Jashpur; Development Works Worth ₹87.31 Crore Inaugurated

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 14, 2025:  “The upliftment of the tribal community remains a top priority for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai while addressing the annual conference of the All India Kanwar Samaj at Pamshala in Jashpur district. Highlighting the progress of tribal empowerment, he credited PM Modi’s vision for appointing a tribal woman as the President of India and emphasized that Chhattisgarh’s tribal leadership is a testament to the central government’s motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also announced key initiatives for Jashpur, including the creation of a Snake Park in Farasbahar with an allocation of ₹20 lakh and the designation of Tapkara as a new tehsil. Additionally, he inaugurated and performed Bhoomi Pujan for 507 development projects worth ₹87.31 crore. This includes 483 new projects totaling ₹85.08 crore and the completion of 24 works costing ₹2.23 crore.

He further highlighted the achievements of the government, such as the rapid implementation of central schemes like the PM Janman and Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Yojana, aimed at providing education, health, employment, and housing support to tribal communities. “We are ensuring prosperity not only for tribal communities but for all sections of society,” he added.

The Chief Minister underscored efforts to improve the living standards of farmers and tribals. He mentioned that the paddy purchase rate in the state has been raised to ₹3,100 per quintal, and farmers are being paid promptly with the difference amount to follow after procurement. Additionally, the tendu leaf collection rate has been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard sack.

At the event, the Chief Minister commended the Kanwar tribal community for its commitment to progress.

“A society that introspects, removes its shortcomings, and works together for development cannot be stopped from advancing,” he said.

The program also saw the release of two books—Kanwar Janjati Ke Samajik Evam Arthik Vikas and Badalta Abujhmad Aur Anya Kahaniyaan—authored by retired IAS officer Shri Maheshwar Sai. Prominent attendees included former MP Shri Nandkumar Sai, Smt. Gomti Sai of the Sarguja Tribal Development Authority, and other dignitaries.

To support the community further, Smt. Gomti Sai announced ₹20 lakh for Kanwar Samaj’s development. The Chief Minister’s wife, Smt. Kaushalya Sai, and Kanwar Samaj President Shri Bharat Sai also graced the event, marking a celebration of tribal pride and progress.
